Prior to my election, it was common for my company, JT Holman Construction, to be awarded construction projects by the city. Sometimes, my bids were a bit higher than others, but council could still choose to use my company because we were local. As mayor, I am unable to participate in votes or discussions relating to projects that I have bid on and city council can no longer chooses my company unless I am the lowest bidder. The State Auditor has agreed that Macon is following the law in these matters and I will not shy away from trying to keep jobs local because I am serving as Mayor, as long as we are doing so in an ethical and transparent way.

One project of JT Holman Construction that does not involve the City but that I am particularly excited about is the Wardell Estates project that many citizens have inquired about. In 2015, the previous owner requested zoning that could have led to row housing, multi-level apartment complexes, and quadplex and triplex buildings. The current zoning is for multi-family dwelling duplex only. This project will provide new, high-end housing to the community with beautiful gardens and common spaces. I could not be more excited about what is to come at this important intersection in our city.
